Alternative Forms of Energy:
• Fossil fuels (oil, gas, and coal) are used for energy to do things like: power cars, airplanes, and heat our homes.
• But these fossil fuels contribute to lots of pollution and global warming.
• There is another way we can get energy without harming our Earth! This alternative energy uses the sun, water, and wind to get energy, and it doesn't pollute or contribute to global warming.

• Solar power:
Solar energy uses natural sunlight for energy. Energy from the sun is captured through a solar panel. A solar panel is typically made up of silicon. Silicon absorbs sunlight and then changes it into electrical energy. And the energy you get costs nothing and it does not pollute the Earth.
• Wind power: Wind power captures the natural wind in our atmosphere and changes it into mechanical energy then to electricity. Wind energy doesn't hurt the environment because it has no greenhouse gas emissions or pollutants. |
• Water for Energy:
Water can also be used to create energy. This can be done by putting dams in rivers and using the potential energy of the stored water. This energy is renewable, and doesn't contribute to global warming.

To reduce the effects of global warming, right now is the time for countries to stop using fossil fuels as their main source of energy, and start to use alternative sources of energy, that do not harm the Earth.
