How We can Save Our Earth
Watch our music video with lyrics we wrote for a song called "Save Our Earth"!
Earth is our home and the home to all the animals we share this beautiful planet with! Are you worried about how human activity is threatening Earth's biomes, animals, and causing global warming? Well guess what? YOU can help!
What can we do to help save the Earth?
• Reduce
- Turn off lights and technology (like TVs and computer) when not in use to save energy
- Buy energy saving devices (such as rechargeable batteries)
- Walk or ride your bike rather than using a car, which pollutes the air
- Use less water; when you're brushing your teeth, turn off the faucet, and don't take long showers.

• Reuse
- When you go to the grocery store, bring reusable bags rather than using plastic bags, which create more trash.
- Did you know 90% of plastic water bottles are not recycled? Help the environment and buy a reusable container.
- Do you have a little sister or brother who uses diapers? In just the U.S., diapers make up 3.5 million TONS of waste in landfills! That is a lot of stinky diapers! Encourage your parents to buy a reusable cloth diaper.
- Before throwing something away, consider giving it to someone who could use it, or donate it to a charitable organization.
• Recycle
- Did you know plastics, glass, metals, paper and other materials can be recycled?(reused to create another material)
- Remember to recycle rather then throwing something in the trash so it can be used to create something new, instead of polluting the environment and adding to landfills.
- There are many types of recyclable material: old computers, paper, plastic bottles, tires, rubber, newspapers, cardboard, cans, aluminum foil, steel, electronics. If recycled rather then thrown away, all these materials can be used to make new things:
- For example: when a plastic soda bottle is chipped, melted and made into fiber, it can be used to make a jacket or sleeping bag stuffing.

• Other ways to help the environment
- Don't be a litterbug, and pick up trash! - Volunteer at a local park or wilderness area to clean up trash. - Spread the word! - Join a club for saving the Earth, such as Earths Savers Club for Kids. You can join at this link: http://www.earthsaversclubforkids.com/Default.aspx - OR you can start your own club with the mission of helping the environment! =) - Advocate for laws helping the environment - When you're older, vote for politicians who focus on saving the environment - If you are passionate about protecting the environment, when you're grown up, choose a career that helps the environment. Careers that focus on the environment include: geologists, geophysicists, geochemist, hydrologists, and meterologists. |
How we can help terrestrial (land) biomes and animals being affected with pollution:
• Don't litter wildlife!
• Clean up wilderness areas.
• Trees are Earth's lungs, providing Earth with oxygen, and also are the homes of many animals. But they are chopped down to make things, such as paper. =( To reduce deforestation, always buy 100% recycled paper, or buy banana paper.
• Don't throw away paper if you don't need it, recycle it!
• Plant a tree
• Reduce the amount of waste you put into landfills: always reduce, reuse, and recycle!!
How can we help aquatic/marine biomes and animals being affected by pollution:
• Make sure chemicals don't go down your household drain
• DON'T pollute in oceans, rivers, or lakes.
• Reduce the amount of water you use
• Check your vehicles for any leaks
• Try not to use chemicals such as fertilizers and pesticides
• Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle
• DON'T dump litter in lakes, rivers, or oceans (clean it if you see it) =)
• DON'T let water run when you're brushing your teeth
• Planting plants in gardens can help prevent fertilizers and pesticides from contaminating water

Does Recycling help every living being on Earth?
• Recycling helps every living being on Earth because it helps preserve natural resources, helps minimize pollution, saves energy, preserves the environmental condition, and it saves space used for waste disposal. Second of all, there is less energy consumption, reduces landfills, creates less diseases from pollution and landfill, and it doesn't kill a lot of animals from pollution and lack of oxygen!
By making little changes, you can make a big difference for our environment! Make the pledge to save our Earth today!
"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed people can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has." - Margaret Mead.
